Multiple cake samples tested to have carcinogens

A recent survey by Karnataka's Food Safety and Quality Department tested 235 cake samples and found carcinogens in 12, including popular varieties like red velvet and black forest. Harmful artificial colors such as Allura Red, Sunset Yellow FCF, and Tartrazine exceeded prescribed limits, leading to warnings from officials and potential strict action against violators under food safety laws.
